Nitto Obtained the International Initiative SBT Certification

Greenhouse gas (hereafter GHG) emission targets for 2030 of Nitto Denko Corporation (headquartered: Osaka, Japan, President: Hideo Takasaki, hereafter Nitto) have been certified as Science Based Targets (SBT), an international initiative.

The Nitto Group places ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) at the core of its management, aiming to solve social issues and create economic value at the same time. Climate change, particularly global warming, is a challenge common to all humankind and must be resolved to pass on a prosperous planet to the next generation. The Nitto Group will further accelerate its activities to achieve a decarbonized society by working toward zero environmental impact not only in its own but also in its entire supply chain.

GHG (CO2) emission reduction target for 2030 SBT criteria
Scope1+2 ※1 Reduction of 46.3% (from 2020) Reduction of 42% or more
Scope3 ※2 (Target categories 1, 3, 4, 5, 12) Reduction of 25% (from 2022) Reduction of 25% or more
  • ※1 Scope1: direct emissions such as the combustion of fuels and solvents. Scope2: indirect emissions from the use of electricity, heat, etc.
  • ※2 Scope3: indirect emissions from the supply chain excluding Scope 1+2
    Target categories: 1. Purchase of raw materials, 3. Fuel production and electricity generation, 4. Transportation (purchase and outbound logistics), 5. Waste disposal, 12. Product disposal
