Nitto Wins the Highest Honor—the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award—in the 2025 Energy Conservation Grand Prize

Nitto Denko Corporation (Head Office: Osaka, President: Hideo Takasaki, hereinafter “Nitto”) is pleased to announce that the “ROMVR High-Boiling Solvent Recovery System,” jointly submitted with Kimura Chemical Plants Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Hyogo, President: Yasumasa Kobayashi, hereinafter “Kimura Chemical Plants”), has been awarded the highest honor—the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award—at the 2025 “Energy Conservation Grand Prize” organized by the Energy Conservation Center, Japan (*1)

We fully leveraged the advanced properties of our high-performance RO membranes (*2) and integrated them with Kimura Chemical Plants’ engineering expertise to develop this system.
By combining the RO membrane’s high-efficiency concentration capability with MVR (Mechanical Vapor Recompression), the system delivers significant energy savings compared to conventional distillation methods.

Through this technology, we aim to promote resource circulation and reduce environmental impact by efficiently recovering and reusing solvents and water from wastewater.

*Examples of high-boiling-point solvents: DMF, DMAc, DMSO, NMP, etc.

The Nitto Group place ESG at the core of its management, aiming to balance addressing social issues with creating economic value. We will continue to create “essential” value for society and contribute to building a sustainable global environment and a prosperous human society.

  • *1 The Energy Conservation Grand Prize aims to widely share initiatives by businesses that promote energy conservation and develop energy-efficient products through public presentations, while recognizing outstanding efforts. These activities help raise awareness of energy conservation, promote the adoption of energy-saving products, foster the growth of energy-saving industries, and ultimately contribute to building an energy-efficient society.
  • *2 Manufactured at the Shiga Plant, Membrane Division, Human Life Solutions Sector (Shiga Prefecture).
