Nitto Denko Vietnam Co., Ltd. has donated 270 units of furniture to 11 social welfare institutions in the locality, in response to their needs, after selecting tables, racks and cabinets in good conditions, which have been placed out of service due to a change in plant layout. These are part of our efforts to build and maintain a good relationship with the community, as well as to reduce waste.
Nitto Denko Material (Thailand) Co., Ltd. collects employees’ household waste plastics at least monthly and send them to a Plastic Drop Point installed by the Department of Environmental Quality Promotion (DEQP). Collected plastics are upcycled and reused as new plastic containers, PET bottles and monks’ cloths (Kesa).
Five Nitto Group companies in Americas based in the U.S., Mexico and Brazil have promoted SDGs training activities online throughout FY2020. As part of efforts towards Green Challenge, they have regularly organized training, lectures and online events, to raise awareness of SDGs.
Nitto Automotive San. in Turkey visualizes the environmental burden of collected 76.6 tons of cardboard boxes in order to raise environmental awareness of all employees. By taking ownership of these efforts, the company promotes the reduction of environmental burden.
Based on the “Saitama Target Setting Emissions Trading System, which is part of the Saitama Prefecture Global Warming Strategy Promotion Ordinance,” Kanto Plant is working on the reduction of CO2 emission by reducing energy use. The plant has received a letter of appreciation and message on DVD from the Governor of Saitama Prefecture for the plant’s large reduction in CO2 emission from FY2010 to 2019.
Fukushima Nitto Shinko Corporation organizes a clean-up activity annually. Littering has been a big problem along the 6-km town road from the center of the town to the industrial park where the company is located. In order to build an environment free from littering, the company has annually organized a litter pick-up event alongside the town road with the participation of employees for the past 10 years on Environment Day.
Nitto Denko (Taiwan) Corporation has received a “Clean Production Certificate” from the Industrial Development Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Taiwan for its environmental efforts and has been officially recognized as an environmentally advanced company. The company will further promote reduction of industrial waste, saving water and energy.
Taiwan Nitto Optical Co., Ltd. has reduced waste by approx. 15 tons/year by reusing paper returnable boxes.
