Initiatives for Conserving Biodiversity

Tree planting

Nitto Matex (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (Chonburi, Thailand)

Once a year, we distribute and plant seedlings in the local area. In 2023, we contributed to CO2 reduction and greening by distributing 5,000 seedlings in the neighboring area.

Biodiversity Conservation Activities

Nitto Denko Corporation Onomichi Plant (Hiroshima, Japan)

In collaboration with the labor union, we organize a cleanup activity of the Seseragi River flowing through the Onomichi Industrial Park and a wildlife observation event for employees and their families. Through activities such as wildlife collection and observation, lectures by external instructors, and removal of invasive species, participants are encouraged to think about environmental protection. As this is a family-oriented event, it also serves as an opportunity to promote communication.

Swallow Conservation Activity

Nitto Advanced Nonwoven Ascania GmbH (Aschersleben, Germany)

We are conducting conservation activities for swallows by installing artificial nests within plant premises, as suitable habitats and nesting sites for swallows have become scarce in recent years.

Water Resource Conservation

Taiwan Nitto Optical Co., Ltd. (Taichung city, Taiwan)

In Taiwan, water conservation requests for clean water may be issued due to lack of rainfall. We are working to reduce the use of water for daily life and manufacturing, and to conserve water through recycling. These efforts are intensified during the summer water shortage period.

During periods of low rainfall, we are particularly strengthening our efforts to conserve water

Cleanup Activities

If litter on land is left unattended, it flows into rivers and the sea, causing marine plastic pollution. The Nitto Group conducts cleanup activities in the surrounding areas of each business site, collecting scattered litter.

Korea Nitto Optical Co., Ltd. (Gyeonggi-do, Korea)

Since 2020, employees and their families have been participating in plogging, cleaning up a wide area including the surrounding industrial complex, natural scenic parks, and areas around rivers. The company encourages participation in volunteer activities once a quarter, and hundreds of employees participate in plogging every year.*1

We conduct cleanup activities on Cijin Shell Museum Park beaches and Lotus Pond in Kaohsiung City. Up to about 50 employees and the family members participate to each session collecting large amounts of trash. This activity also serves as an opportunity for interaction among employees, their families, and employees of neighboring companies.

Taiwan Nitto Corporation (Taipei City, Taiwan)

As part of our CSR activities, we conduct a "Beach Cleanup Activity." Zhongjiao Bay in Jinshan District, New Taipei City, is considered the most popular surfing spot in northern Taiwan. We collect a large number of plastic bags and styrofoam washed up on the beach by typhoons.
