This esteemed certification system recognizes and showcases the efforts of companies and organizations in promoting biodiversity and sustainable use of natural resources through their business activities. Shiga Prefecture grants certification to corporations, sole proprietors, agriculture, forestry, and fisheries businesses, and educational institutions with headquarters or offices in Shiga Prefecture. The rating system ranges from one to three stars, based on the number and impact of initiatives undertaken by the entity.
The Shiga plant has been at the forefront of environmentally friendly practices*2 since 2018, embracing the “recycling-oriented green plant” concept. This innovative approach allows wastewater and liquid waste generated during the manufacturing of reverse osmosis (RO) membranes*3 to be reused within the production process. Additionally, Nitto has accelerated various activities aimed at preserving biodiversity, including local cleanups, educational visits, and environmental awareness promotion activities at community events. This prestigious three-star certification is a testament to Nitto's unwavering commitment to conserving water resources and promoting sustainability.
