Promoting Education and International Interaction 2014

Cooperation with the Brno University of Technology in the Czech Republic

In January 2015, Nitto Denko Czech (NCZ) was approached by Brno University of Technology with a proposal for bilateral cooperation, and we quickly accepted. Students will gain experience of real business and a better understanding of international trade through performing external tasks and research for NCZ. At the same time, this will afford us useful opportunities to explore new business and potential future employees.

On February 16, an employee went directly to the university and introduced NCZ. In March, a select group of students visited us on a plant tour and were given some tasks. Later, study results were presented with the students divided into teams.

“Omoshiro Science”(Amusing Science) with Nitto’s Polarizing Films

This year Toyohashi Plant again provided polarizing films for “Omoshiro Science”, a science class held on August 24, 2014. At the site, Toyohashi Audio-Visual Education Center, parents and children who attended the class produced “polarizer magic cylinders” and learned the peculiarities of science.

Companies of the Nitto Group in China collaborated to make social contributions.

On September 1, 2014, four employees of Nitto Denko (China) Investment as representatives of the Nitto Group in China, visited an elementary school in Xixi Village, Shuiwei Town, Xuyong County, Luzhou Municipality, Sichuan Province. In addition to children’s books donated by employees of each company, we donated stationery and used personal computers. Children who received various items of stationery promised that they would study harder to return the favor to society.

Hearing that some schools in mountain areas were troubled by an absence of computers, Nitto Denko Materials (Shenzhen) donated 55 used personal computers to six such elementary and junior high schools.

On May 30, 2014, three employees participated in a donation ceremony. They were presented with a flag by representatives of the schools and were regarded as a boon. They then visited two elementary schools and were very warmly welcomed by the children.

Supporting Physics Experiments in High Schools

In December 2014, Nitto Denko Czech was contacted by Free University of Berlin with a request to supply polarizing films. The aim was to ask for our cooperation in a project whose goal was to show the fun of competitiveness in technology development to high school students by delivering experiment kits to them.

For example, the reason why a corn-filled silo will break at the walls and not at the bottom is found in the force distribution of granular matter. With Nitto’s polarizing film, the way in which the pressure in granular matter is distributed can be visualized.

In the project, 60 experiment kits will be distributed to six-year high schools in Germany by the summer of 2015.

Donating Used Equipment to Schools in Mexico

In September 2014, Nitto Denko Automotive de Mexico Servicious and Nitto Denko de Mexico donated 39 superfluous chairs and 9 superfluous workbenches to an elementary school and a technical school. Some employees attend evening classes at the technical school, so skilled human resources may result from the initiative in the future.
