From 15th October 2015, the “Nitto Innovation Museum” held in Tokyo and Osaka successfully ended its run. We want to sincerely thank everyone that came to visit us. We look forward to seeing you again.
Here, you can see some of what went on at the Nitto Innovation Museum.
There is a mysterious white object behind our company president, Mr. Takasaki.
Take off the veil ...
It’s a huge COLOCOLO™! 60 times larger than an actual product,
this huge COLOCOLO™ is 10 meters wide, 3 meters tall, and has a volume 200,000 times larger. The interior of COLOCOLO™ is a museum that you can easily enter.
Inside the COLOCOLO™ you can see technology and products that are representative of Nitto.
A transdermal absorption tape formula that brings drugs from the skin into the body is one of the products that Nitto has developed. The museum showed many other Nitto technologies near and dear to everyone such as Nitto’s adhesive technology that brought you the COLOCOLO™ and a polarizing film used in smart phones.
his huge COLOCOLO™ suddenly appeared on the first floor of Kitte, nearby the Marunouchi entrance of Tokyo Station. This mysterious sight made many people stop in their tracks and take a look inside the COLOCOLO™. Commemorative photographs with message boards in hand were also available in front of the COLOCOLO™. The Nitto Innovation Museum was held at the Tokyo venue over the course of four days.
15th (Friday) - 18th (Sunday) October 2015. During this four-day period, many people gave us words of encouragement such as “So, we even have this kind of technology in Japan?” and “keep up the great work.” We warmly thank all those who visited. Please look for the Nitto technology that we introduce to you here in the world around you.
In Osaka, the museum was located at the Grand Front Osaka, Umekita Plaza, in front of Umeda Station. The COLOCOLO™ that suddenly appeared there caused many people to stop and take photos with their smart phones. On October 23rd (Friday) many businessmen working nearby came to visit, and on the 24th (Saturday) many families visiting Umeda to eat and shop came by. There were apparently many people who came by because they saw media coverage of the event in newspapers, etc.
In Osaka, two workshops were held at the Nitto Innovation Museum. The first was a workshop for people to create their own handle for a COLOCOLO™. The handle can be decorated with stickers and masking tapes.
Children working to decorate with serious expressions on their faces. They apply their favorite stickers and draw pictures with pens to make their own one-of-a-kind handle. They look like they will enjoy cleaning at home with their own original COLOCOLO™
In another workshop, you could find one of our flagship products, adhesive tape, that uses Nitto's adhesive technology. The workshop was titled, “Let’s make Halloween art with tape and newspaper!” On October 24th (Saturday), We welcomed Mr. Kotaro Sekiguchi, a modeling artist who makes sculptures using adhesive tape, who instructed people how to do it themselves.
Roll up the newspaper, apply a bit of masking tape to the top... And now your cute Halloween art is finished! And of course colorful masking tape stuck firmly to the uneven newspaper surface is not only good for packaging, but great for making art as well. Children also made smiling jack-o-lanterns with the help of mom and dad.
The Nitto character Nitto Boy also came to the venue. Nitto Boy cleaned with COLOCOLO™. Somehow he looks happy...? Shaking hands, and taking picture together, he also had a good time with many of you who visited us.
TThe huge COLOCOLO™ museum in Osaka was also a great success! Staff explained Nitto’s technology such as RAYCREA™, a technology that enhances the efficiency of solar cells to generate power, and NITOHARD™, a vibration damping reinforcement material that makes thin metal sheets stiffer when applied to them.
The Nitto Innovation Museum was held at the Osaka venue for two days on Friday and Saturday, October 23–24, 2015. We often heard surprised comments from visitors such as “such advanced technology is actually being used?” We feel that it was a good opportunity for people to know Nitto’s technology. We hope to create more opportunities to disseminate information to everyone while driving our research and development to amaze and inspire our customers.
